Happy New year to you all!
2007 looks to be a busy year with the afterschool and holiday club starting straightaway and also the final preparations for the community cafe taking place and with a number of events planned .

good news for parents due to changes in the courses run at the centre come February we will have more availability in our softroom for drop in's please call the centre on 292 962 for the new times or drop by for a time table. There are a number of events being planned for the coming months so please check out the events section for information on activities which may be of interest to you or someone you know.

February 2007
Golden Opportunities: February has been a busy time in Hangleton With our Golden Opportunities Events taking place over three days with information on services, activities and products for people aged 50+ which aare availabnle to help assist them. The first was held at Oasis Christian Fellowship Church during the evening and the second at Hangleton Community Centre on a wdnesday morning. The day was well attended and a lot of residents who had never been to the centre before came on the day.

young Peoples Foot ball tournament:
This was organisaed by a group of young people from the Hangleton area who were supported by a Helen Bartlett our local youth worker. The tournament was held at Portslade Sports Centre with 8 Teams taking part from across the City. The day was a great success and the young people are planning a repeat in the summer along side the next planned fun day. This was followed by a medal presentation at a party held in St Helens Church Hall.

HaKIT Crafts: HaKIT held a Tshirt Printing afternoon where young people had the chance to design their own in the computer room and print their designs on t-shirts, key rings, magnets and stickers.

Last of the Golden opportunities events: These hav proved to be very popular with the last event happening at St Richards Church and community centre. We would like to thank all the service providers who represented their organisations at the golden oportunity events, resdients gained a lot of valuable information and learnt about the wide variety of services that are available to them.

April 2007

Happy Easter to you all! Easter half temr means there is lots of activities going on for young people in the area including music workshops, Basketball and other sports, barbeques and football. If you would you or your children would like to be involved in future young peoples activities either taking part or helping to organise them, you can call Helen Bartlett the youth worker here at the centre on 01273 821 380.

Working Links: Working Links held a family day where parents could come with their children and take part in arts and crafts and find out about how parents can start preparing themselfs for getting back into work. There was lots of food and drink being served and the activities spread out into the park with Tree planting.

Is it spring or winter still !?! Despite the weather the park improvements are still continuing, this month the new benches and picnic tables have been installed in the park and a new 'buddy swing' has been put in for the older children.

Septembr at the centre means back to business, while the summer has been quite busy this year, spetember sees the return of a lot of groups as well as a few new ones. Hove Park Secondary School have opened up an Exlusion Unit where young people that have been suspended or expelled from School are sent to attend a structured learning environment in the centre.

Haven Guitar Club are also starting to provide lessons in the centre on Tuesdays for children and adults, classes are managed as group sessions and only cost £5.00 per session!

Little Ducklings pre-school still have places available but hurry as the are filling up fast. Little Ducklings can provide care from 9:00am - 3:15pm, contact wilma for details 248 532
