BHIP
Need a rest? Need to work? Want your children to play?

BHIP Provide after school and school holiday child care for children aged 4-11, picking up children from schools in Hangleton, Knoll and South Portslade. BHIP provide a wide range of play opportunities from their warm, friendly and experienced play workers, using access to local park and play facilities. Concessions are available and BHIP encourages children with disabilities and additional support needs to come along to the club.

Hangleton Fun For Families

Hangleton Fun For Families is a resident led group which organises low cost outings and activities for families living in Hangleton & Knoll, from trips to Chessington and Lego land, to local fun days, parties and park events

Little Ducklings

Little Ducklings is an Ofstead registered Community Preschool run by fully qualified staff providing care for children 2-5 years. The preschool operates from 9:15-3:30 Mon-Fri with morning and afternoon sessions (9:15-11:45 and 12:45-3:30) plus a lunch time session (11:45-12:45). Little Ducklings accepting funded places for 3-4 year olds.

Parents Network

The Parent's Network is a group of local Parent's that meet every 3 months to share information on groups and activities for parent's, carer's and families in the Hangleton and Knoll area, there is often a guest speaker such as a Youth Worker or Training Provider. Adult Community Skills & Learning

The Brighton & Hove Adult Community Skills and Learning team put on courses which help to increase the well being of adults in low income families through activities which give them basic skills, knowledge and self confidence. Courses have included Home DIY, Signing, Mosaic making, Literacy and Numeracy and Child First Aid

HaKIT

HaKIT stands for Hangleton and Knoll IT and was set up by The Hangleton & Knoll Project to provide access to IT training and resources in Hangleton & Knoll. HaKIT provides a range of courses from the fun and informal to accredited CLAIT courses as well as a drop in service for people looking for minor support and to access courses and IT resources.

WEA

The WEA provides English language classes for men and women across Brighton & Hove at various levels in order to ensure that students get the right level of support. Classes are free for residents currently on benefits and citizenship courses are also included as part of some lessons or as an additional course.

Get Together Club

The Get Together Club is a social group for older people where they can meet to hear interesting and informative talks, play games and win prizes, meet with other older people in the area and also be consulted on a range of issues that effect older people today.
Transport is available to help residents get to the club from around Hangleton for an additional cost via the community minibus.

Hangleton Short Mat Bowls Club

Hangleton Short Mat Bowls is a great way to get some gentle exercise and have fun while meeting new people along the way. The group meets three times a week playing games amongst the team and offers opportunities to play against visiting teams from other areas and competing in the Brighton & Hove Bowls league.
The clubs accepts everyone from experienced players to total beginner's!

CDance

CDance provides dance classes for children aged 3-8 years to fun songs that that the children choose themselves. CDance also put on a show every Christmas for parents to show what they have learnt over the year.

The Circus Project

The Circus Project was set up to promote Circus Skills, specialising in aerie theater. The Circus Project also support existing and up and coming Circus artists working in Brighton & Hove. The Circus Project holds a number of open workshops for people of all ages and abilities and also provides drop in time for experienced people to develop their skills and ideas in a supportive environment with other professionals.

SAMA Karate

SAMA Organisation was established in 1978 and is the largest professional karate and kickboxing group in the UK with over 10,000 members training weekly
SAMA Organisation is headed by Chief Instructor Hanshi Gibson 7th Dan. With a total of 49 years karate experience and 29 years kickboxing experience he is regarded as one of the top martial artist in the world today.




Crooked Moon Appalachian

Crooked Moon Appalachian is a group which meets to learn Appalachian dance in an informal setting. The group is open to new members and people with an interest in tap and American Jazz.

Sammy Mason Dance School offers the chance for Children 7 and over to take part in dance classes with the aim of grading in dance examinations and taking part in dance competitions

Advice Information & Guidance

Through the community centre residents can access an Advice, Information and Guidance sign posting service. A member of the community work team will meet with residents who may have concerns about benefits, looking for employment or volunteering opportunities or may simply be stuck on how to solve an issue they are experiencing. Staff then work with the person to identify possible solutions to these problems and ensure the resident gets the right support from the right people.

Community Support Police Officers Surgery

The Community Support Police Officers hold a roaming surgery around Hangleton either in the library or here at the Community Centre giving advice information and aids on crime prevention, personal safety and to confidentially report issues around crime effecting you and the community.

Hangleton Residents Association

Hangleton Residents Association (formerly the NHRA North Hangleton Residents Association) is a resident group which meets to discuss issues affecting the area of Hangleton and how to spend the Estate Development Budget which is given to improve the outside area in Hangleton. The group also liase with other organisations to discuss housing issues and put forward the views of local residents in how they feel about decisions being made about council housing.


Opportunities Drop-in

If your looking to get back into training, work or learning new skills, the opportunities drop-in is a chance to find out about courses and activities happening in and around Hangleton from computer classes to art and first aid courses.
You can also get help on your computer problems and ask questions about your IT needs. One to one appointments can be made.


Youth Music Studios

Youth studios provide opportunities for young people to become involved in music making opportunities from digital music production, lyric writing and space to practice instruments.


Youth Activity Sessions

The Hangleton & Knoll Project currently runs a number of youth activity sessions at Hangleton Community Centre. These change from term to term but please call Michelle, Youth Work Co-ordinator on 01273 706469 or e-mail youth@hkproject.org.uk for more information. Most activities are free to take part in for 8-12 yrs and 13-19 year old residents of Hangleton & Knoll.
